Ministry Plan:
The guidelines for developing ministry at Elkton Presbyterian Church in the next three to five years are:
Worship:
- Continue a strong emphasis on Bible-based sermons that touch and renew each individual spiritually and personally.
- Be a warm and caring small community church that welcomes each person as a member of the church family.
- Expand our music talents to enhance worship and praise our Lord.
- Continue to encourage intergenerational involvement in all areas of worship.
Nurture:
- Encourage and train people to lead and members to participate in Bible studies and prayer groups.
- Through programs like Pastoral Partners, encourage members to visit and maintain contact with those who do not or are not able to attend worship regularly.
- Be aware of and address needs of members of the congregation who are involved in giving of themselves, particularly those in leadership roles.
- Establish and maintain a balanced church, meaning one strong in many areas with many people involved in leadership by developing leadership from those who have gifts to offer.
Mission:
- Be an active shepherd in our community, caring for others by sharing our gifts, time, and talents and spreading the word of Jesus Christ.
- Pray for local missions and serve their needs with our volunteer help and financial support.
- Be actively connected with ecumenical mission programs involving local needs.
- Pray and financially support mission projects and issues nationally and throughout the world.
Children and Youth:
- Increase involvement of families with children and youth who participate in programs by supporting youth and reaching beyond them into their families.
- Serve as a haven and source of stability to youth through welcoming them, listening to them, and forming meaningful relationships with them.
- Increase adult guidance for children and youth using a mentor process.
