May Sunday School News

Sunday School will soon wrap-up until Fall. During the month of May, we will observe Mother's Day. In June, we will honor our fathers. Have you ever considered how Our Heavenly Father comforts and encourages and loves us much like our moms? And, how He guides and directs and loves us just like our dads? He created moms and dads. He created all that we need. We have only to believe and be faithful. Come to Sunday School in May and honor Our Perfect Creator as Perfect Mother and Perfect Father. Show Him your gratitude. It is what the fifth commandment requires.

Exodus 20:12 "Respect your father and your mother, so that you may live a long time in the land that I am giving you."

Judy Hensley continues to lead the Crusaders Class. (In the event of Judy's absence, Martha Applebee will lead the class.) With their study of the Book of Esther completed, they will choose another Book of the Bible as lesson material. This class of older adults meets in the first classroom on the left after leaving the sanctuary. Continuing to meet in the lounge, is the Covenant Class for younger adults. Pastor Anne Ross is the teacher/coordinator contact for the class members who volunteer to teach and lead discussions on topics of their choice on scheduled dates of their choice. All Sundays in May are open for leaders and topics. Classes for older youth (for kids from 6th grade and up) and lead by Joanne Boyette continue to be available in the classroom next to the nursery. Curriculum is still "Seasons of the Spirit". Also, "Seasons of the Spirit" Curriculum is used by teachers of the young children's class (for kids in kindergarten through 5th grade). This class meets during the Junior Church portion of our Sunday Worship Service and is lead by volunteers. Volunteer teachers are always needed. Each week, the curriculum provides several teaching options and is quite "teacher friendly". Contact Judy Hensley at 289-5030 or
jgkh58@comcast.net to volunteer to teach on any Sunday of your choice. The young childrens' class meets in the first classroom on the right after leaving the sanctuary. Join us in Sunday School! Class time is 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Hope to see you there!

Pentecost Service in the Park
"When you send forth your spirit" Psalm 104:30

This year we celebrate the Day of Pentecost on Sunday, May 11, which also happens to be Mother's Day. How appropriate that an offering designed to serve children at risk falls on that particular day!

The Pentecost Offering is unique in that congregations keep 40 percent of what they receive for programs designated by their sessions. The other 60 percent will support General Assembly ministries that advocate for children and provide leadership development opportunities for our youth and young adults.

Weather permitting, we will have an outdoor service with Communion at the Monger Pavilion in Stonewall Park. This will be followed with a covered dish luncheon.
